Farm Background:
Government Poultry Farm, Chuadanga, was built in 1979 on 3.33 acres of land next to the circuit house and police line of Chuadanga town to alleviate the poverty of the people in the southwestern region including Chuadanga. Initially White Leg Horn, Rhode Island Red (RIR), Faumi breeds of chickens of various ages were reared here. Later, due to the demand of poultry farmers in the country, Golden breed chickens were produced and reared as a result of crossing Foumi with RIR. Later, due to the expansion of the private poultry industry in the country, the farm started supplying 01-day-old Fumi breed chicks to the poor farmers under the poverty alleviation program at government-fixed prices. At present, only pure Fumi breed parent stock is being reared in the farm.

Brief History of Faumi Chicken:
The Foumi chicken is an active and hardy breed of chicken that originated in ancient Egypt. This is a truly ancient breed of chicken and has been reared around the rivers in Egypt for centuries. They are named after Cairo and the province of Fayyam, southwest of the West Bank. The Egyptians have been breeding this breed since BC. Faumi chickens were first imported to the West in 1940 by a professor at the University of Iowa. But at that time this breed was not included in the American Poultry Association Standard of Perfection (American Poultry Associations Standard of Perfection).
Faumi chickens are considered to be wild-fowl hybrids, interbreeding with domesticated birds. The spiny palm of Egypt is thought to have adapted from forests and swamps (about 3,000 years ago). It is a very common and popular chicken breed in Egypt and they grow very fast.
Features of Foumi Chicken:
Faumi-chicken: Faumi chickens are small in size with large dark eyes and high tail. They are sometimes compared to a roadrunner (a simple fast bird of the cuckoo family, found in arid countries from South America to Central America) with their forward chest and neck and straight up tail. It is singled out as a light breed. Seen. Faomi chickens have bluish black legs, red ear lobes and a single medium comb. They have white spots between the ear lobes. Faomi chickens are slate blue in skin color. Aim chickens are silvery-white in color with a neck and a dark black patch of feathers all over. Body: Faomi is known as a good egg laying breed.
They lay small white eggs and are usually not fertilized. But at the age of two years, the tendency to lay eggs may appear. Foumi chickens are incredibly disease resistant with a reputation for being virtually unscathed by bacteria or viruses. Faumi is known to be naturally resistant to marex and many other diseases. Faumi chickens come to maturity quickly. Cockerels start crowing at an incredible five or six weeks, and hens start laying eggs at four and a half to five months. . On average, a rooster weighs about 1.8 kg and a hen weighs about 1.5 kg. Silver penciled Foumi chicken is the best known and only Foumi breed.
Behavior / Mood:
Foumi chickens are a very active and hardy breed, especially suited to hot climates. Very little feed or food is required for survival. So they are a very profitable breeding chicken breed. Foamy chickens get very angry when they are handled or stroked. This is why they don't always like pets. They are not completely domesticated, although they are domesticated in various ways. They are very lively birds, very flighty and very fond of trees. So careful demarcation or fencing is required. Foumi chickens are slightly aggressive but they are not violent or particularly aggressive and the roosters are tolerant of each other. Egg-laying hens usually do not produce it, but if they are over two years old, they may develop it. Their eggs can be hatched with an incubator machine or eggs can be hatched to produce babies. Foumi chickens are very hardworking and good for open systems. They are very suitable for breeding in small or small farms. Faumi hens lay about 250-260 eggs a year.
